on a dark winter night, we were in the city. we both were dressed up.
dressed up with clothes that we only wore for family functions and smiles we only wore when we were little and ate popsicles on the steps.
we got into a cab, and it was warm, with the heat hitting our faces like when you open the door to an indoor pool.
i stared out the window as the lights blurred by, brake lights, street lights, neon lights, creating a continuous flicker of light that would made me tingle every time it would catch your face and light it up.
i held the door open for you and buttoned your coat because it was too cold and you had rosy cheeks.
